The Zatanna piece was from either last year or 2009 and my first piece sold on eBay. Zatanna is on the ever growing list of characters I hope to create into a chibi. All in good time but for now enjoy!
Drink and Draw Like a Lady hosted at Things From Another World was fantastic and a heck of a lot better than last year’s. The location, a comic shop in the city, the atmosphere, relaxed and the lady’s gathered, talented and cool. I hope they’ll decide to do this again in the same location for next year. What I liked best was the mix of women who weren’t just into comics but also into jewelry making, sewing, crafting, e.t.c. It had a vibe where any woman was welcome to partake of the event even they themselves don’t read or create comics. Drinks and snacks, graphic novels and sketching, it even made someone like me who is super shy and nervous feel comfortable and confident to say “Hi my name is Celina Hernandez and I make comics, nice to meet you.” Thank you Things From Another World and the fantastic women who put this together. Comic Book Month, Stumptown Comics Fest and Portland, it doesn’t get any better.
Video and shout-outs on Thursday!
