I’ve been working on many many sketches and paintings this week and a bit of lettering and coloring. I’m working on my late schedule so it’s crazy hours and not really seeing the sun ;)
I like the way Little Lulu came out but I love the way the Lady Gaga piece turned out. I think when I get some time this weekend I’ll try again with the Little Lulu piece.
Been watching Spaced on Hulu, love love love that series and I can see how Wright mixed in that into Pilgrim but in my eyes I could have seen Pilgrim as an anime. I think there is still time for it to be an anime. I can’t wait for the Supernatural anime because they are just so cute!
being a freelancer and going for and sticking to your goals and dreams. If you rally want it you have to go for it. There will be long hours, no sleep, missing your family and friends, lack of a life both social and just living. It can sting and you’ll wonder what it’s all for but when you catch those moments where everything works out, then those are what make it worth it and make you want to continue. ^____^
I’m off to get some coffee and some air then it’s back to working on sketches, paintings, printing and maybe give a fine belly rub to our chubby furry cat Sugar. More art on the way thanks for stopping by!
There are many little images, video games, cartoons, comics and moments that I love and influenced me, Betty Boop is one of them. So cute and memorable, she’s got heart and is one of the best cartoon characters out there. (Sorry Bugs Bunny) I drew this for practice and I love how she turned out. Please enjoy this link to see how cute she is!
So it’d been a busy, hectic and upside down kind of week and we are just getting our bearings this weekend. Mike’s finishing up a couple of things and I’m finalizing a few sketches and paintings. We hope to be at 100% by Monday.
Things that kept us going are:
Twin Peaks Coffee Persona 3 FES Mexican Food The Black Keys BRICK *Eeeee Gordon* Gilmore Girls and Burn Notice
So with that I’m gonna wrap things up, get some sleep and then back to work! Need any art/sketches/paintings e.t.c. just send me an email: firstname.lastname@example.org Thanks ^___^
The Wizard of Oz is a fantastic movie and Wicked takes a fun and musical look into a different side of the world of Oz. Friend of Dorothy can be added to that dazzling list of fantastic story telling with a twist that will appeal to a whole new crowd of both comic and non-comic book readers.
Friend of Dorothy begins with the main character Scott-John, a depressed and suicidal young man who’s alone and without a shred of hope. Suddenly out of nowhere a tall, shirtless hunk of man appears bringing light and a chance for a new beginning to our hero. The hunk is non other than Gorlindo the Good Witch who tells Scott-John to wake up and become the champion of Oz. With a wave of Gorlindo’s magic star shaped wand Scott-John transforms and is given the mantle “FRIEND OF DOROTHY!” With striking ruby red boots made for butt kicking and weilding a shiny mighty ax Scott-John will be a new and fantastic hero for Oz and the world. Saving it from evil and bringing help to those who need him.
If you enjoy The Wizard of Oz and it’s mythology and possibilities then you will love and eat with a spoon Friend of Dorothy- a fun, delightful and imaginative take with just a hint of drama. Written by the fabulous Brian Andersen of So Super Duper, drawn by the talented Neftali Centeno of Sex and the Superhero with colors/letters by Falecia Woods. Included in the issue is a bonus story entitled “I Am Moxie Marvel” written by Brian Andersen and art by the wonderful Jon Macy. I very much enjoyed reading Friend of Dorothy and look forward to where else Brian Andersen will push his creativity and imagination.

CHIBI DIGITAL is the our line of web comics that we’ve created in the last two years. I’ve also included links to the online portfolios of Mike Murphy, Ray Johnson and Sergio Calvet:
This is the banner for our podcast entitled HERNURPHCAST which is a combo of mine and Mike’s name…yeah I know cute :)
We will be starting up new episodes by Mid-Sept, this will be our second season of recording. We talk about everyday life, nerd stuff, movies and living in Portland, Oregon.
Over the years of living as a freelancer and a small press we’ve met some incredible, dedicated, talented and loyal friends and fans from all over the world. It’s really cool and amazing thing to be cheered on and likewise to cheer on friends and creators from all over. These links are just a handful that I’d like to give a shout out to. What I don’t put up now I will at a later time.
So it’s 1:16 a.m. and Mike, Ray and myself have been working all day drawing, painting and making comics. We are watching Feast 2 and winding down. Thanks for reading this post & have a great weekend!
